The chiffon hijab without polyester

For a long time, there was a point where I would mentally draw the line with certain topics.

Not because they weren't beautiful—but because they didn't feel right to me.

Anything that sounded “semi-synthetic” felt like a compromise to me at first. Too industrial, not transparent enough, too close to materials that I had deliberately kept out of our concept.

I wanted pure, transparent, natural ingredients.

Until I understood what Tencel™ really is.

It is a lyocell fiber derived from wood—mostly eucalyptus—from sustainably managed sources. And the key difference lies not only in its origin, but also in the way it is produced:

In a closed-loop production process where over 99% of the water and solvents are reused. No unnecessary waste, no “hidden waste” in production, as is the case with many other fibers. And most importantly: no harmful chemicals.

And that's exactly where my perspective changed.

Because suddenly there was a material that wasn't just soft and luxurious—it was also meticulously designed in every aspect of its production.

🌿 Why Tencel™ is so special for Luminosa:

  • ♻️ Closed-loop system: nearly complete recycling of water and solvents

  • 🌳 Wood-based instead of petroleum-based: no fossil fuels

  • 💧 Significantly lower water consumption compared to conventional cotton

  • 🫧 Extremely smooth fiber structure: reduces friction against the skin

  • 🌬️ Natural temperature regulation: keeps you cool and allows the fabric to breathe

  • Hygienic & gentle on the skin: effectively absorbs moisture and releases it quickly

And it is precisely these qualities that make Luminosa something I had never experienced before.

Because as soon as you put it on, something happens that's hard to explain:

It feels like a cool breeze on your skin.

Not warm, not heavy, not "bulky."

Of course.

Fresh.

It’s almost like stepping out of the sun and straight into a cool, quiet room.

✨ The feel of Luminosa:

  • ❄️ Noticeable cooling effect thanks to the Lyocell fiber

  • 💨 No heat buildup, even on long days

  • 🧵 Fine ribbed texture for support without added bulk

  • ✨ Flowing drape with an elegant, chiffon-like sheen

And that’s exactly why Luminosa feels like a new standard to me.

Not a substitute for our organic cotton.

Rather, as an expansion of what sustainable materials can be when you truly understand them.

And if I had to describe it, I wouldn't describe it as a product.

But rather as a feeling:

Like an ice princess in the modern world.

Cool. Crisp. Elegant. Understated luxury.

📏 Extra room: 1.20 x 2.00 m for flowing drapes and perfect coverage without compromise.

🎨 Two colors that capture that feeling:

Savannah – warm, sandy light on cool skin
Lavender – delicate, fresh, almost ethereally elegant

Luminosa – as cool as air, with a clear conscience, more elegant than ever. ❄️✨

Please note: The Luminosa Hijab is exceptionally finely knitted and features an elegant ribbed texture. This may result in occasional small loose threads—this is a normal characteristic of the material and part of the unique charm of this high-quality hijab.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tencel better than regular viscose or modal?

Yes – Tencel™ (Lyocell) is considered the most advanced and sustainable type of cellulose fiber. The main difference lies in the manufacturing process: Tencel is produced in a closed-loop system in which over 99% of the water and solvents are reused. This makes the fiber particularly resource-efficient compared to traditional viscose.
Tencel also often outperforms Modal, as Modal is similarly soft but, depending on the manufacturer, does not always use the same closed-loop production process.
Tencel also offers additional benefits in terms of comfort: It is particularly smooth, cooling, and breathable, making it ideal for sensitive skin and warm temperatures. Viscose and Modal also feel soft, but they are generally less cooling and technically less effective.

Is Tencel the same as Lyocell?

Yes – Tencel is considered one of the most environmentally friendly textile fibers. It is produced in a closed-loop system in which over 99% of the solvents and water used are recycled.
In addition, wood fibers from sustainably managed forests are used. The result is a fiber that is produced in a way that is significantly more resource-efficient and controlled compared to many conventional materials—and is therefore also particularly skin-friendly and low in harmful substances.

Is Tencel sustainable and low in harmful substances?
