🌿 Why sustainable hijabs are so important (and how Wraps of Nature came about)

🌿 Why sustainable hijabs are so important (and how Wraps of Nature came about)

Salam, dear ones,

I am Tabea - convert, mom, designer and founder of Wraps of Nature, a hijab brand for Muslim women who long for more: more naturalness, more responsibility, more barakah.

Today I'm taking you on my very personal journey to sustainable hijabs - hijabs that not only look beautiful, but are also fair, conscious and environmentally friendly. No fast fashion. No compromises. But slow fashion for Muslim women, the way it should be.

From polyester nightmares to organic cotton dreams

When I started wearing hijab, I was frankly shocked. Headscarves made of polyester everywhere, produced under questionable conditions, full of chemicals and mostly from China - and quite honestly: absolutely unsuitable for sensitive skin or hot days.

So I asked myself: couldn't it be better? Hijabs made of natural materials that are gentle on the skin, good for the environment - and halal for the conscience?

Spoiler: Yes, you can. And that's exactly why we have Wraps of Nature today - my vision of an ethical hijab brand that stands for sustainability, aesthetics and mindfulness.

Our hijabs: natural, fair and microplastic-free

You won't find any synthetic fibers at Wraps of Nature. Instead, we only use natural materials such as:

  • Organic cotton (GOTS or OEKOTEX-certified)

  • Linen and viscose

  • Silk - luxurious and light as a feather

These materials make our ecological hijabs so special: they are breathable, biodegradable and completely microplastic-free. So you're not only doing something good for yourself, but also for our planet.

Buying fair hijabs - for you and for the Ummah

Our production takes place fairly and transparently in various European countries such as Portugal, Italy, Turkey and Serbia. There we work with small manufacturers who treat their employees with respect and perform high-quality manual work.

I didn't want to compromise on ethics right from the start. For me, "buying fair hijabs" doesn't just mean: "I know who made this", but: "I know that they are doing well." For me, this is a lived responsibility as a Muslim - and part of my spirituality.

Hijabs that live with you - not against you

Our natural hijabs are made for your real life:
For days with lots of prayers. For weeks with little sleep. For outfits with style, soul and substance.

Whether you style your hijab scarf with a turban, tie it in a classic way or let it fall loosely - our fabrics are light, non-slip and easy to care for. 30° in the washing machine is enough. No ironing jihad necessary. And best of all: they last. For years. Fun fact: You practically don't have to wash our linen and silk hijabs - they clean themselves!

Because slow fashion doesn't just mean producing fairly - it also means thinking sustainably. Buy less, wear better.

The prophet ﷺ and the fashion that remains

When I talk about slow fashion for Muslim women, I don't just mean a trend word. I mean an attitude. A return to simplicity, mindfulness and quality. In the spirit of the Sunnah.

The Prophet ﷺ wore clothes that were simple, clean and dignified. Incidentally, there are traditions that his clothes were made of linen and wool. So why should we buy hijabs that end up in the bin after one season - when we can also wear stylish, sustainable hijabs that reflect our values? And that have been produced fairly - and not by oppressed Muslim Uyghurs in China?

Our hijab collection - something for every Muslim woman

I wanted to convey a feeling with each scarf. That's why our models also have names:

  • "Hava " - light as a feather made from organic cotton

  • "Sandy " - your everyday favorite in a linen and viscose blend

  • "Mariposa " - elegant, structured and completely plastic-free

  • "Leena" - made from 100% pure linen

These are not just headscarves. They are fair, sustainable head coverings for Muslims who want to live consciously - and stay beautiful, inside and out.

Become part of the movement

With every hijab from Wraps of Nature you choose:

  • Natural fibers instead of plastic

  • Responsibility instead of mass-produced goods

  • Blessing instead of waste

So go ahead - be part of the slow fashion movement.
Be part of Wraps of Nature.
And wear your hijab with pride - for yourself, for the environment, for Allah.

With love (and a good portion of passion for fabric),
your Tabea
